This is such a pleasing book! Anybody who has ever tried to catch a chicken, or anybody who has been proud of being the best at something, will identify with Lami in this story.
Lami is the best in the village at catching hens. It's a busy village, and it takes bravery and speed to catch those chickens. Lami doesn't listen when she's told to slow down. But we all know what pride comes before. Lami falls out of a tree, hurts her foot, and can no longer chase chickens. What she needs now is 'quick thinking' instead of quick running, and clever Lami comes up with the simple, pleasing, obvious once its pointed out, solution that ... I'm not going to tell you because I want you to buy the book and enjoy the surprise!
This is one of those brilliantly simple, utterly pleasing picture books that delivers a stunningly good story in few words, wonderful pictures, and big characters. Young children will love it. And there's so much to talk about, both in the pictures and in the story. Very highly recommended.

I'm very happy to see see the realistic - or do I mean naturalistic? - style of these illustrations too,
Thanks, Pippa!
