Doggerel - Ruth Hatfield

As it was National Poetry Day a few days ago, here's a short homage to poetry, and how useful it is:

The dawn breaks, Windows updates
It's 6 o' clock in the morning
I've been here before, I know it for sure
Even the hare on my teacup is yawning.

Ideas are fresh, but timing a mess,
The water heater starts to hum
I forgot my blog, my brain dropped a cog
So sharp out of bed I did run.

But today's a new day, send the panic away
Early morning's (sort of) quite a nice time
I should do this tomorrow - out of choice, not sorrow
(But first dig out my dictionary of rhyme).

It has to be said, when you can't sleep in bed
Or find yourself missing the bus to Tonypandy
Or you wait in a queue with nothing to do,
Writing doggerel verse can come in quite handy.

(apologies to anyone who got this far)

Nothing like a piece of doggerel to start the day! Thanks, Ruth.
