National Libraries Day - Coming to a Library Near You - Joan Lennon

Saturday 6 February 2016* is National Libraries Day in the UK - a day when we can celebrate this beleaguered indicator species for a civilized society.  "Use it, love it, join it!" is the caption (okay, so sentences shouldn't be joined with commas, but like the singular "they" we may just have to get used to it.)  (Btw I really am not keen on sentences joined by commas, much preferring the use of dashes for that, but I LOVE the singular "they" which, interestingly, has been in use in English since the 14th century, though that's another story.)

Times are grim and losses have been great, so if you possibly can, go to your local library as a reader/writer/parent/person on the 6th Feb. and tell the librarians that you love them - you value them - you're on their side.  Hugging is at your own discretion.

To find out more about this year's celebrations, visit the National Libraries Day website.  I'll be taking part at South Queensferry Library (just down the road from Queensferry Primary School where I have the pleasure to be Patron of Reading).  If you're around, drop in and say Hello!

*I know this is a bit early, but diaries fill up, so get the date in now before that happens.

It's always good to be told about an event before it happens, evrm if the day itself brings more thoughts.

Thanks for the reminder, Joan. Have fun at South Queensferry Library.
I'll be at Fleet Library in Hampshire. I'll be thinking of you!
