The magic of the internet.

Last Friday, an interview with me appeared on Lucy Coats's admirable Scribble City Central blog. A comment on the interview from someone called Joanna Troughton reminded me of one of my very first books. So I left a comment myself, asking Joanna, if she was the same Joanna, to get in touch with me by email. She IS the same Joanna...the one who made A THOUSAND YARDS OF SEA so beautiful. She has today put up some of the illustrations on her own blog http://joannatroughton.blogspot.com/ and you can go and have a look at them there. Joanna's work is both lovely and very varied. One of my daughters' favourite books was Sir Gawain and the Loathly Damsel and altogher I'm dead chuffed that after a gap of 31 years, I'm in touch with this artist again. Hurray for the internet, I say.

What a lovely e-re-union story - and isn't Joanna's an absolute treat of a site, Adele? Thanks!

The internet is completely amazing for networking and connecting in the publishing world. I attended a conference yesterday that I wrote about on our blog on picture books. At this conference, I met a few people who I'd conversed with online in critique groups and who have started following us at Adventures in Children's Publishing. Never having met them in person before, it was like we already knew one another when we finally crossed paths. Thanks for the post!

Thanks, Adele - Joanna's pictures are beautiful. Such lovely, singing (zinging?) colours.
