FLOTSAM by David Wiesner A Review by Sharon Tregenza

When a boy finds a camera washed up on a beach it opens up a whole new world. He's amazed to find pictures of an underwater sea shell city populated by little green people.

There then follows a whole series of photos - boys and girls each one holding the camera. He realises that they are pictures of all the children who have found the camera over the years. He takes a picture of himself and tosses it back into the ocean.

This is a picture book in the true sense of the word. A wordless book that invites you to provide your own story. David Wiesner is one of the best-loved and highly acclaimed picture book creators and has won awards all over the world. This visually stunning and thought provoking piece of work is one of my all time favourites and a delight for all ages.
