As today is the
start of December, I want to mention the chorus of angels who keep good
messages coming throughout the year:
THE AWFULLY BIG BLOG REVIEW
TEAM.
Before all the ABR
Reviewers write their posts, they spend time reading and maybe re-reading their
chosen title before even starting on the piece, which to my mind shows a very
kind and generous spirit. So here’s a
seasonal, Panto-style cheer for all the following Scattered Authors Reviewers who
currently contribute to all the Awfully Big Review posts.
Prolific Pippa Goodhart, ex-children’s bookseller who writes picture
books as well as ghost-writing compelling series for younger readers and her own titles.
Amazing Adele Geras, whose titles range from respected adult novels
through mythic retellings for teens to picture books for teenies, especially
about theatre and ballet.
Cheerful Chitra Soundar, a whirlwind of energy and activity whose bright
picture books arrived on the scene this year.
Page-Enthusiast Emma Perry, an Australian writer and founder of My Book Corner blog, now living in Bath, England.
Super-Storyteller Saviour Pirotta, picture book writer, popular school visitor
& creative writing enthusiast.
Excellent Ann Turnbull, creator of many thoughtful historical titles
for teens and beautifully reflective stories for younger children.
Wonderful Lynda Waterhouse, author and experienced creative writing
tutor at The Wallace Collection and other galleries and museums.
High-flying Sarah Hammond, a children’s writer who now lives in Illinois and offers a
great Transatlantic perspective.
Dynamic Damian Harvey – Picture book writer, early years
enthusiast, creator of wacky book series and all round good guy
Fabulous Dawn Finch, author, inspirer, past Chair of CILIP and
creative library and reading campaigner.
And also
The Superlative Sue Purkiss, who helps to look after ABBA (along with me)
and whose latest remarkable novel JACK
FORTUNE AND THE HIDDEN VALLEY is out now.
Dear Awfully Big
Reviewers - and those that were with us for a while - thank you for all that you’ve read and reviewed so far for this blog
during 2017 . . .
And if the word Angels doesn’t feel quite right, I have to say
that you’re all STARS to me!
Please keep up the good, kind work in 2018 and thank you!
Penny Dolan

Hip, hip, hooray!
And - oh dear - I was working from my current list which didn't include the Fabulous Pauline Francis, who is having a short sabbatical, and Jolly Jackie Marchant who is travelling about with her freshly-titled book. Thanks to the two of you too!
How lovely! Thank you - and thanks to Perfect Penny for all the organising!
