CWIG Reading for Pleasure Award by Dawn Finch

The new school year is comfortably bedding in and many of us are looking at the diary for those school visits. We all do them, and we all know what makes a great one - a great school librarian or teacher, and pupils who have a deep love of reading. Some schools are so deeply enthusiastic about reading for pleasure that we can feel the buzz the minute we step through the door.

On the CWIG committee we talk a great deal about reading for pleasure, and the schools that are doing an amazing job to support it. One such conversation led to author and committee member, Shoo Rayner, coming up with this wonderful idea. We worked it all through with every committee member really getting excited, and the Society of Authors ran with it - and now we are delighted to bring you the very first CWIG Reading for Pleasure Award.
Now, it's over to you!

Have you visited a school in the last year that really shone for you? Do you know a school where the pupils are passionate about reading and where reading for pleasure feels right at the heart of the school and its policies?

If you do, nominate them NOW for this amazing award. They will get a pack including stickers that show they have been given the award, and a certificate personally signed by Philip Pullman. They will also know who nominated them so that they can see how much their commitment to reading for pleasure meant to you.

All of the details on on the website, and you can contact me or the committee if you have any questions.

You can find all of the details on this link.

GO FOR IT!!
