I am currently reading and loving Julia Donaldson's first teenage novel, Running on the Cracks, so I'll probably bounce that first.Nicola Morganhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12189894289540344094noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7780182174577095197.post-91931376111895123002009-04-06T10:43:00.000+01:002009-04-06T10:43:00.000+01:00By the way I think 'Betty' above is not a real per...By the way I think 'Betty' above is not a real person but a spam comment. Great idea, Jamie, I mean Anne.

At the weekend I read of a thoroughly depressing survey which revealed that people in the C2DE socioeconomic groups considered those who read books to be 'losers' and at best 'loners', out of touch with real life and real people, and of course having no friends. Almost the opposite of the truth.

I'm reminded of the dwarves in The Last Battle, who are 'so determined not to be taken in that now they cannot be taken out' of their dark, hopeless cowshed. People need books for their mental health as much as they need greens for their physical health. I really believe that.Nick Greenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11307045090887391553noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7780182174577095197.post-43107557511858401502009-04-06T08:32:00.000+01:002009-04-06T08:32:00.000+01:00I think it's a great idea!I work with a few book l...I think it's a great idea!
I work with a few book lovers. We start shifts at work at an exact time, which means you can often find one of us desperately reading, saying 'I don't have to start work for another four minutes. I bet I can finish this chapter'. It means we're exposed to each other's choices a lot and it makes them very tempting!Elen Chttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00445201005486291612noreply@blogger.com
