My son read a ton in grades 1-5 when he thought he could read more than anyone else. I have just decided, though, that what is wrong with American education is the lack of school ties. I think everyone would behave better with a bit of striped fabric around the neck!Ms. Yinglinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17805324364289597178noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7780182174577095197.post-27832743871856580292011-08-08T14:41:06.714+01:002011-08-08T14:41:06.714+01:00Yep, Adele's right - I'm thrilled absolute...Yep, Adele's right - I'm thrilled absolutely skinny!
I'm very glad your son got over the confusion with Cold Tom - it's more obvious if you read the newest edition, which has a helpful photo of Tom on the front.
Thanks again, Keren - and the very best to your son in his new adventure.
PS The cricket is vitally important, too.Sally Pruehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15999389456442530903noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7780182174577095197.post-18338700073923969802011-08-08T14:13:42.991+01:002011-08-08T14:13:42.991+01:00This is fascinating, Keren and I'm going to se...This is fascinating, Keren and I'm going to send the link to Sally Prue who'll be thrilled skinny. All credit to your son and I wish him well for Secondary School. Teachers would be ridiculed for trying to get students to do "school work" during the summer holiday. But I think it is a great idea. Especially if some thought goes into the list each year.Theresahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08027229777663171623noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7780182174577095197.post-61726834661616150042011-08-08T09:44:51.974+01:002011-08-08T09:44:51.974+01:00The list appeals to his competitive nature - that...The list appeals to his competitive nature - that's why he wants to read (almost) all of them. of course, it might make another child feel swamped and pressurised and turn them off reading...so, good that they only have to read five if that's all they want.Keren Davidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13121027210783177857noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7780182174577095197.post-22191131239642195262011-08-08T01:07:51.706+01:002011-08-08T01:07:51.706+01:00He's doing so well, lets hope they continue to...He's doing so well, lets hope they continue to encourage him.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07957545161716269528noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7780182174577095197.post-90449281031871242462011-08-08T00:45:42.971+01:002011-08-08T00:45:42.971+01:00How interesting that this list has so captured you...How interesting that this list has so captured your son's imagination that he wants to read the whole list rather than just one from each genre! I wasn't given a reading list before either of my daughters started 'big' school, but I think it's a great idea to get them talking about reading when they go.

I've just posted about my daughter leaving primary school and caused tears with several readers! I hope you don't feel quite so sad with your son :-) Jane GrayThe Time Sculptorhttp://thetimesculptor.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.com
