I find it really helps to look at the WIP once a day, if only for a few minutes. Sometimes I tweak a sentence, sometimes just read the last few pages. Or I read the synopsis to keep the whole shape of the story in mind. I carry stuff around the house with me and keep the latest bits in my handbag when I go out. I also have a pinboard with relevant pictures.
