It is amazing how many people say things like "Well start with their full name, date of birth, address and..."
And I say, "We don't need their full name. We know they are adults because they are professional people and if they are filling the form out we know how to contact them. It is much more important to know which languages they can read and where they went to university." Those things are important in my job as it helps to put networks together.
I don't always win but I do keep saying "only ask for essential information".catdownunderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06959328192182156574noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7780182174577095197.post-74444992424809561972016-12-19T00:32:42.766+00:002016-12-19T00:32:42.766+00:00I just wonder if all those long forms are really u...I just wonder if all those long forms are really useful or just following an expected norm?Linda Strachanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04354324158228109351noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7780182174577095197.post-12508892701643906142016-12-19T00:29:48.342+00:002016-12-19T00:29:48.342+00:00Thanks Hilary. I'm sort of with you on the form filling in too, but every time I have found a form onerous, I have thought of the possible prize and got on with it. Perhaps years of filling in much more ridiculous forms in my former career, and with no prize in view, has inured me!Sheena Wilkinsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13847659993713606837noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7780182174577095197.post-11293061190202474552016-12-18T13:13:40.834+00:002016-12-18T13:13:40.834+00:00I enjoyed reading your post. I'm sure it's something we just "have to do" - like breathing!Hilary Hawkeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12573780178193323715noreply@blogger.com
