Maybe some day I'll have a book entirely set in historical Czechoslovakia and then I'll immerse myself in Kundera for a while! :-)shirleyhttp://www.shirleyannemcmillan.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7780182174577095197.post-25677311750649366202018-03-26T23:41:09.217+01:002018-03-26T23:41:09.217+01:00This is very interesting and in parts very moving....This is very interesting and in parts very moving. I think Milan Kundera had the same problem - he wanted to be a writer not simply a writer about oppression in Czechoslovakia. But more than survival- it gives us hope and lends us energy. I do think it's very important. xshirleyhttp://www.shirleyannemcmillan.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7780182174577095197.post-49482784224953289112018-03-26T19:09:06.374+01:002018-03-26T19:09:06.374+01:00I think your comment about artists being necessary...I think your comment about artists being necessary is really inspiring. It gives me motivation and encouragement, as sometimes I wish I was someone who did more obvious good. And your book sounds really interesting. People always think ba...Yes, I think that's it. People always think back to their childhoods and it just happens that our childhoods coincide with significant conflict. The post- conflict period is also interesting to be living through- in NI we are not dealing well with the legacy of the conflict. I wonder if it is different in other places. I suppose it probably takes a long time.shirleyhttp://www.shirleyannemcmillan.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7780182174577095197.post-9401788872989009952018-03-26T08:26:52.385+01:002018-03-26T08:26:52.385+01:00Coming from Sri Lanka I understand. You live through a war of 33 years, this generation who has lived through it tends to go back to it all the time!Mysticahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10941269615559681014noreply@blogger.com
